Photocatalytic Degradation Of Rhodamine B-Based On Carbon Dots/TiO2 Derived From Neem Leaves

S. Shameem, C. Roumana

Том 88 №1

Carbon Dots (CDs) were synthesized using a simple stirred-assisted method, employing Neem leaves as an abundant natural source. The produced carbon dot combined with TiO2 is used as a photocatalyst for the degradation of Rhodamine B (RhB) with the incidence of sunlight. These carbon dots exhibited a notable quantum yield of 27.45%, with excitation occurring at a wavelength of 340 nm. The overall shape of the CDs is spherical and has a homogeneous distribution; the diameter of each CD/TiO2 is estimated to be 5-10 nm. In conclusion, we showed that the produced CDs were capable of performing very well as a photocatalyst for the degradation of the RhB. CD/TiO2 demonstrates a remarkable 97.82% efficiency in degrading RhB under sunlight exposure. These findings suggest that CD/TiO2 serves as an effective catalyst for the degradation of organic dyes commonly present in wastewater.
